(ANSA) – ROME, JULY 11 – Growth prospects for the next few months appear to be negatively affected by the continuation of the inflationary phase, the deterioration of the trade balance and the fall in household confidence. However, business expectations still show limited and widespread improvements. This was reported by Istat in the monthly note on the Italian economy. The international scenario continues to be characterized by high uncertainty linked to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, by strong inflationary pressures, driven by the prices of energy products and by the change in tone of monetary policy, explains Istat. In Italy, in May, the seasonally adjusted index of industrial production interrupted the recovery phase that had characterized the last three months, however remaining at levels higher than those of the previous year. The deterioration in household confidence was associated with more prudent consumer behavior while the labor market showed the first signs of worsening. In June, inflation showed a new acceleration across all components. The differential with the euro area average, while remaining negative, decreased. (HANDLE).
