Bank of Italy + 3.2% GDP in 2022, with gas stop -2% in 2023

(ANSA) – ROME, JULY 15 – Italy’s GDP started to rise again in the second quarter after growth had been barely positive in the first three months. According to the Bank of Italy estimates contained in the first quarter, “it was equal to about half a percentage point in the second”. Household consumption, underlines Via Nazionale, “benefited from the easing of the restrictions introduced to combat the pandemic”. In the event of a total blockade of Russian gas imports “with consequent production interruptions of some industrial activities” and “net of possible economic policy responses”, Italy’s GDP would rise by less than 1% in 2022 and therefore fall in the next year by almost 2 percentage points, returning to expand only in 2024 “.
