Intesa: Cariplo Foundation rises to 4.812%

(ANSA) – MILAN, JUL 18 – Fondazione Cariplo has increased its stake in Intesa Sanpaolo. The process was concluded in recent days with the gradual purchase on the market of approximately 194 million shares and an investment of just under 350 million euros.

The Cariplo Foundation’s stake in Intesa Sanpaolo’s capital goes from 3.948% to 4.812%, thus consolidating its “position as the second stable shareholder of the bank”, explains Fondazione Cariplo.

The investment of the Cariplo Foundation in Intesa Sanpaolo, before this latter operation, represented 20.87% of the Foundation’s assets at market value; rose today to 21.08%, while remaining well below the limit set by the Acri-Mef agreement, equal to 33%.

“Fondazione Cariplo confirms its role as long-term investor in Intesa Sanpaolo, a crucial subject for the country’s economy, which presented a Business Plan in which we believe and for which we renew support and applause to the management and governance of the bank “, says the president of the Cariplo Foundation, Giovanni Fosti.
