(ANSA) – MILAN, 21 JUL – Co2 emissions in the atmosphere are reduced by 10% and the amount of energy that Icam self-produces thanks to the trigenerator is growing, from which 85% of the energy necessary for the needs arrived in 2021 production of the plant. To this are added renewable materials in the wrapping of the chocolate bars used, in the last year for 96%. These are some of the numbers contained in Icam’s fourth sustainability report, now in the third generation of the Agostoni family at its helm.

The group guarantees constant training to employees, a bonus based on skills, and financial contributions to support children’s education costs or volunteer activities. The same is true for farmers in the countries of origin, constantly trained to increase technical-agricultural skills and improve the socio-economic conditions of their families. In 2021 there were 17 new hires.

In the year just ended, 100% of the producers of raw materials shared and signed the company’s code of ethics. The same code was also signed by many of the suppliers from which Icam purchases cocoa, which at the end of the year reached 96% of the total.

A mapping of the cocoa, milk and sugar supply chains was launched by Icam, between the end of 2020 and 2021, to obtain an analysis of environmental risks and assess their repercussions. This will allow the company to prevent, through the selection of partners, any situation of corruption, forced or child labor of farmers, deforestation or failure to respect the biodiversity of the land.

A particular wrapping, made up of 80% renewable raw materials, was launched by Icam in 2021: this is the first compostable flowpack made using paper and a biopolymer made from corn-based biomass.

Icam ‘Chocolate by nature’, the company’s payoff, is an “awareness that has always been the basis of our work” underlines Agostoni. Not just “a role to assume”, but “the raison d’etre of every company”. (HANDLE).
