(ANSA) – ROME, JUL 25 – The government is studying the possibility of zeroing VAT on bread and pasta and reducing it from 10 to 5% on meat and fish. This was confirmed by Deputy Minister of Economy Laura Castelli. “It is a concrete plan and possibly alternative or additional to 200 euros – she told Radio 24 to those who asked her if in the aid decree these hypotheses are being considered – the costs of both measures are being evaluated and above all which are the most impacting on the lives of Italians, we will intervene in this sense in the July decree “.

Castelli also underlined that the July decree is being “readjusted” in these hours, “the resources that come from the settlement are more” and 12-13 billion is a “possible figure, very close to reality”. The deputy minister stressed in particular that “we are counting because the increase in interest rates erodes these resources a little, but it is not a deficit measure like all the decrees we have made this year”. “If the government had not fallen – she concluded – we would probably have made this July decree and other interventions before the budget law”.
