(ANSA) – ROME, JUL 25 – In 2021 there were 1,361 reports of fatal accidents at work, with a decrease of 19.2% on 2020. Inail notes this in the Annual Report, explaining that the contraction is entirely linked to deaths caused by the Covid infection, which went from around 600 in 2020 to around 200 in 2021. The reports of “traditional” fatal injuries after the lockdowns and restrictions in 2020 have increased by almost 10%. There are 685 fatal accidents at work.

The total injuries reported were 564,089, down by 1.4% on 2020. The decrease is due exclusively to the contraction of infections from Covid which went from almost 150 thousand in 2020 to about 50 thousand in 2021. In 2020, in particular, it reads , the average incidence of new Coronavirus reports on the total of reported accidents was one in four (but during the year economic activity was reduced due to restrictions to stem the virus), while in 2021 it dropped to one on 12, (ANSA).
