Istat; consumer confidence in July at its lowest since May 2020

In July 2022, a decrease is estimated in both the consumer confidence climate index (from 98.3 to 94.8) and the composite business confidence climate index (from 113.4 to 110.8). Istat notes this, underlining that consumer confidence drops to a minimum since May 2020.All components of the consumer confidence index are decreasing with the economic climate and the future one falling respectively, from 93.9 to 84.9 and 98.8 to 92.9.
For businesses, confidence is worsening in manufacturing and market services while improving in construction and retailing Today the Gfk index on consumer confidence in Germany was released in August which falls beyond expectations to historic lows at – 30.6 points, compared to -27.7 in July.
Confidence is also falling in France.
