(ANSA) – ROME, JUL 27 – “Adding energy savings and new supplies in the second half of 2024 we will be totally independent from the Russian gas supply”. This was declared by the Minister of Ecological Transition Roberto Cingolani during a press conference where he took stock of the national energy situation. “In the short term, the objective is to overcome the winter of 2022-2023 through the diversification plan, the filling of the storage areas and the energy saving plan”, explained the minister.
“Under the new European regulation on the 15% cut in gas consumption it was established that the savings programs prior to the regulation are counted at 100%.
Also on the basis of this, for Italy it will be a matter of saving 7% of approximately 55 billion cubic meters (1 August – 31 March) equal to approximately 4 billion cubic meters per year “, Cingolani observed.
“The new European regulation – explained the minister – assessed the differences in energy mix and interconnection: difference between planned storage and real storage; reduction of the taxable amount on which to calculate 15% in the case of countries that export less than 50% ; gas transfer possible only if it does not affect the production of electricity “.
In the medium term, he continued, between 2023 and 2024 the objectives are “the diversification of supplies, part gas and part LNG, the preparation of new floating regasifiers, acceleration on renewables together with energy saving measures”. (HANDLE).
