The slowdown was affected by the decline in energy goods (from + 48.7% in June to + 42.9%) thanks above all to regulated energy goods (from + 64.3% to + 47.8%) and only to a minimal extent from non-regulated energy sources (from + 39.9% to + 39.8%). “Core inflation”, net of energy and fresh food, accelerates from + 3.8% to + 4.1% and that net of energy alone from +4.2 to + 4.7%.

Strong acceleration in the prices of the so-called “shopping cart”, which reaches a record level of + 9.1%, thus recording an increase that has not been observed since September 1984. This was reported by Istat in its preliminary estimates for July.

In fact, both the prices of food goods, for home and personal care (from + 8.2% to + 9.1%) and those of products with a high frequency of purchase (from + 8.4%) are accelerating. at + 8.7%).

The inflation acquired for 2022, or the one that would be obtained assuming a zero change in the remainder of the year, is equal to + 6.7% for the general price index, and + 3.3% for the component background, (net of energy and fresh food). (HANDLE).
