(ANSA) – ROME, AUGUST 01 – In 2021 the greenhouse gas emissions of the Bank of Italy remained substantially stable compared to the previous year, while they fell by about 20% compared to 2019, the last pre- pandemic.
· “Between 2019 and 2021, emissions for the purchase of products, goods and services, those related to the life cycle of banknotes and those related to business trips and employee home-work trips, especially fell” , explains Bankitalia in a note accompanying the institute’s 2022 Environmental Report. “In the same period there was an increase in the consumption of heating fuels, mainly due to the need to adopt the health measures envisaged to reduce the risk of coronavirus contagion (ie external air heating for air changes in the winter season)”.
