Ten days of compulsory leave for the working father paid at 100% and an increase from six to nine months for the optional indemnifiable leave with 30% of the salary within the 12 years of life of each child: these are some of the changes that will come into force from 13 August on parental, maternity and paternity leave provided for by legislative decree n. 105 of 30 June 2022. In the event of multiple births, the duration of the leave, which also applies to the adoptive and foster father, is increased to 20 working days. It can be used from two months before the presumed date of birth up to five months after the birth of the child and in case of perinatal death of the child. Self-employed women are also granted a daily allowance also for the periods prior to two months before the birth, in the case of serious complications of pregnancy or persistent morbid forms that are presumed to be aggravated by the state of pregnancy, on the basis of medical examinations. carried out by an ASL doctor.

Parental leave compensated at 30% for employees is equal to three months for the mother and three months for the father (not transferable to the other parent) to which are added three months that can be taken alternatively for a total of nine months up to 12 years of the child’s life. In the event that the applicant has an individual income up to 2.5 times the minimum allowance (equal to 524 euros for 2022), he will be entitled to an indemnity of 30% also for the other months of leave that can be requested (overall has the right up to six months for the mother and up to seven for the father in the event that he abstains for an entire or fractional period of not less than three months for a maximum of 11 months for the couple).
