Demand for electric vehicles has grown in Europe – sold more than diesel

For the first time, more electric vehicles than diesel vehicles were sold in Europe. The difference between them is only 1%.

In August 2021, the share of sales of electric vehicles (both hybrids and purely electric) in the European market increased by 21%, and diesel ones were sold by 20% more.

At the same time, gasoline cars are better sold in European countries, accounting for 56% of the market. However, there are exceptional regions such as Norway. There, in August, electric vehicles captured 92% of the market.

Despite such indicators, a decline in auto sales is observed around the world. In August, the number of registered new cars decreased by 18% in comparison with previous years and reached the lowest level since 2014. However, sales of electric vehicles were up 61%.

In Europe, in August, the best selling:

  • Volkswagen ID.3 – 7904 units;
  • Tesla Model 3 – 7824 ед.

Earlier we reported that 909 vehicles were assembled at Ukrainian factories in September. Compared to the previous month, the production of vehicles increased by 64%.
