A new application for Oschadbank is being developed by a Russian company. What is known?

State Oschadbank is going to release an updated application for Internet banking. It turned out that the application is being developed by the OpenWay company, which has Russian roots.

“Cooperation with OpenWay Technologies Ltd. (Cyprus) Oschadbank began in 2010, having concluded an agreement for the acquisition of WAY4 software to build its own processing center. This company is part of the international European group of companies OpenWay, headquartered in Belgium,” – reported in the press service of the bank.

It turned out that the OpenWay group of companies really has offices in different countries and many subsidiaries. Moreover, for many years the company has been run by Russian top managers, and the main technology center of the company was located in St. Petersburg. And the development of the application for Oschadbank, according to Babel’s source, is supervised by this office.

Note that the OpenWay WAY 4 remote banking system is used by banks all over the world. Among them are Raiffeisen Bank International, Bank of Astana, Alfa-Bank in Belarus and the largest Russian Sberbank of Russia. And for the Ukrainian Oschadbank, OpenWay introduced a multi-channel service system in 2013, and in 2017 – the OschadPay application. NFC.

At the same time, in 2014, when Russia annexed Crimea, Visa and MasterCard payment systems stopped serving cards of a number of Russian banks. Then the Russian Federation decided to create its own payment system. And according to RosSMI, it was Openway Service that won the tender.

Let’s remind:

• Four state-owned banks hold 60% of the deposits of Ukrainians, they also issued almost 40% of all loans in the country.
• The state is considered a less efficient owner than business, therefore Oschadbank, PrivatBank, Ukrgasbank and Ukreximbank have been on the privatization lists for several years.
• In order for private capital to enter Oschadbank, it is made a member of the FGVFL. That is, all new deposits in this bank will be guaranteed only within 200 thousand hryvnia, and not in 100% volume, as it was before.

Earlier, we reported that in the first five months of 2021, state-owned PrivatBank and Oschadbank became the most profitable banking financial institutions in Ukraine. The top five also includes Raiffeisen Bank Aval, FUIB and Universal Bank.
