Despite the quarantine: cash turnover at the cash desks of Ukrainian banks has grown significantly

The turnover of cash at the cash desks of Ukrainian banks increased during January-September 2021 compared to the previous year.
This is reported by the NBU in its Telegram channel.
Thus, during this period, cash received 19.8% more cash, namely UAH 1,828.8 billion.
While the volume of cash withdrawals grew more slowly, the increase is 14.8%, that is, UAH 1,856.9 billion.
The NBU also spoke about the three most popular cash transactions for cash withdrawal, these are:
- transactions using payment cards – 74.7%;
- purchase of foreign currency from customers – 8.1%;
- reinforcement of postal operators – 5.2%.
The main sources of cash inflows to bank tellers were customer transactions with payment cards (33.6%), trade revenue (32.1%) and revenue from all other types of services (12.4%).
NBU banned accepting rubles
Since November 21, Ukrainian financial institutions are prohibited from accepting Russian rubles to replenish deposit accounts.
This is stated in the relevant decree of the NBU, which notes that this rule applies only to deposit accounts of the population.
