The Minister of Economic Development Giancarlo Giorgetti has signed the decree appointing the Committee for the application of the Code of media and minors self-regulation which will be chaired by the lawyer Jacopo Marzetti, formerly the Lazio Region’s Childhood Guarantor. The Mise announces it.
The Committee, which has “the delicate task of ensuring the protection of minors from the dissemination of harmful content even in the digital age”, involves representatives of institutions, television broadcasters and associations of audiovisual producers, as well as users who will have the the task of strengthening collaboration and encouraging the introduction of regulatory and technological tools capable of protecting minors and young people through a conscious use of the media.
“The goal is to start a process that characterizes the Committee both for the direction, monitoring and supervision activities and for the study and promotion of training projects related to the relationship between the media and the protection of minors”, underlines the note. The effective members of the Committee appointed by the minister are: Giuseppe Scialla, Iside Castagnola, Remigio Del Grosso and Marianna Sala representing the institutions involved; Marcello Ciannamea, Maria Eleanora Lucchin, Giovanni Crudele, Alfredo Donato and Alessia Caricato representing the broadcasters and sector associations; Emilia Visco, Vincenzo Brogi, Luca Borgomeo, Matteo Santini and Umberto Rapetto representing users. The inauguration meeting of the new Committee for the implementation of the Code of media and minors self-regulation will be scheduled shortly at the Mise.
