European routes will be laid from Ukraine to Poland: the media revealed the plan of the railway

By the end of 2023, a European railway line can be built in Ukraine, which will provide direct access from Warsaw to Lviv. The next direction may be Kyiv.

If the plan is implemented, rail transport from Poland and Romania to Ukraine will be much faster without the need for transferring passengers and reloading cargo at border dry ports. This is stated in the material of the newspaper Rzeczpospolita.

The 1520 mm gauge became inconvenient for the country. The blockade of ports by the terrorist country of the Russian Federation means that the state is forced to export its goods, including grain, through other routes. By the way, this old track was installed back in the days of Tsarist Russia to protect against railway invasion from the West.

The track width in Ukraine is 1520 mm, the European standard is 1435 mm. This way is used in 60% of the countries of the world. If Ukraine switches to the European model, this will allow it to connect railways not only with Poland, but also with Moldova, Romania and other countries.

The railway plays a significant role in Ukraine, since about 40% of goods and goods are transported through it (for comparison, only about 10% in Poland). Therefore, our state has already begun to build railways of the European standard 1435 mm. So far, a few kilometer section is being built from the Polish Grebennaya to the Ukrainian Rava Russkaya.

Vladimir Shemaev, director of the office of international projects of Ukrzaliznytsia, told the details on the construction of a new track. “Until the end of 2023, we will continue this section to Lviv along the existing wide track. In the future, this will create the possibility of running direct Warsaw-Lviv trains without transfers and chassis changes,” he said.

As GLOBAL HAPPENINGS reported, Ukrzaliznytsia intends to rename the Southern and South-Western Railways, a number of stations, abandon the Russian language in the company’s activities, and also change the mileage numbering, for which the “zero kilometer” will be transferred to Kiev. The goal is to get rid of “the dominance of imperial, Russian antiquity”, which has nothing to do with the Ukrainian present. All changes are expected to be completed by 2025.
