Courts are overwhelmed with cases: BEB increased the number of criminal proceedings sent to court

During the year, the number of criminal proceedings sent to the court by the Economic Security Bureau (BEB) has tripled compared to the beginning of its work. In particular, in January 2023, Bureau detectives sent 13 criminal proceedings to court.

This was reported in the BEB itself. They noted: from January to March 2022, the Bureau sent 1 proceedings to the court, with 39 initiated. Then:

  • in April 2022 – 1 person was notified of suspicion, 16 proceedings were opened;
  • in May – 1 proceedings were sent to court, 11 proceedings were opened, 4 persons were notified of suspicion;
  • in June – 3 proceedings were sent to court, 34 were opened, 3 persons were informed of suspicion;
  • in July – 3 proceedings were sent to court, 43 were opened, 3 persons were informed of suspicion;
  • in August – 2 proceedings were sent to court, 46 were open, 5 persons were notified of suspicion;
  • in September – 1 proceedings were sent to court, 40 were opened, 9 persons were notified of suspicion;
  • in October – 3 proceedings were sent to court, 45 were opened, 7 persons were informed of suspicion;
  • in November – 5 proceedings were sent to court, 77 were opened, 8 persons were notified of suspicion;
  • in December – 10 proceedings were sent to court, 91 were opened, 22 persons were notified of suspicion;
  • in January 2023 – 13 proceedings were sent to court, 119 were opened, 25 persons were notified of suspicion.

In total, BEB has already submitted 42 proceedings to court, with 561 cases open. 87 people have been notified of the suspicion.


Over the year, the number of criminal proceedings sent to the court by BEB tripled

“This is a positive dynamics of characteristics and institutional development… The Bureau is a little over a year old, its formation is taking place in the conditions of war, with limited funding and constant pressure from all sides. Nevertheless, our total contribution to the economy over the past year is UAH 60 billion” , – the message says.

As GLOBAL HAPPENINGS reported, earlier the BEB reported that the Shevchenkovsky District Court of Kyiv had taken into custody the Ukrtatnafta excavator in criminal proceedings for tax evasion by the company’s former management. Earlier, a preventive measure was chosen for him in the form of detention with the alternative of making a bail of almost UAH 200 million.
