Will the electricity be cut off on March 18: what is the situation in the power system

In Ukraine, on March 18, schedules of stabilization or spot power outages were not introduced. At the same time, in the event of new missile attacks by the Russian Federation or a significant increase in consumption, shutdowns are possible in a number of regions.

At the same time, the energy infrastructure along the front line is regularly damaged due to shelling. In particular, on the night of Friday, March 17, they fired at the energy infrastructure in the Donetsk region.

As noted on the website of Odessa Electric Networks, in Odessa shutdowns have been canceled, but they are possible in some areas at high loads. The problem is network damage. It will take a long time to restore them.

The current restrictions in the regions are network and are caused solely by damage to the energy infrastructure due to massive Russian rocket attacks on March 9, the company added. At the same time, repair work continues at all Ukrenergo facilities damaged by Russian shelling. “Our specialists are doing everything possible to restore as soon as possible stable power supply, but restoration work takes time,” the statement said.

As the company recalled, as a result of Russian attacks on the Ukrenergo substation, more than 200 missiles and drones flew in, causing heavy damage to the equipment. The active resumption of the Ukrainian energy system from the consequences of Russian shelling will take place from June – it is expected that then the most necessary pieces of equipment will begin to arrive. Moreover, this is an optimistic forecast.

At the same time, despite the power surplus in the system of 1.5-2 GW, the risk of emergency shutdowns will remain, because, among other things, the lines have been repaired on the knee.

As GLOBAL HAPPENINGS reported, Ukrainians are advised to keep generators and power banks at the ready. For blackouts can return to any region.
