According to the results of January-February 2023, the metallurgical enterprises of Ukraine exported metals and products from them for $568 million. This is 4 times less than for the same period in 2022 – then the corresponding products were exported for $2.26 billion. This is stated in a press release from the State customs service
In general, the trade turnover of Ukraine in January-February 2023 amounted to $16.5 billion, which is 30% less than in the same period of 2022.
Goods worth $10.1 billion were imported to Ukraine and exported $6.5 billion. At the same time, taxable imports amounted to $8.1 billion, which is 80% of the total volume of imported goods.
As you know, in 2022, Ukrainian metallurgists reduced iron ore exports by 45.9% compared to 2021, to 23.98 million tons. Pig iron exports fell by 59% yoy over the year. – to 1.32 million tons. Shipments of semi-finished products decreased by 72% yoy, to 1.89 million tons. The war and the disruption of supply chains due to the blocking of seaports led to such a significant drop.
Earlier, GMK Center Director Stanislav Zinchenko said that due to the replacement of Russian suppliers in the European market, Ukraine can increase the export of MMC products by $74 million per month. However, for this it is necessary to unblock seaports, as well as increase the capacity of railway crossings.
