Large-scale blackouts in Ukraine: “covered” 12 regions

Ukrainians in 12 regions were left without electricity. The reason is bad weather: storm wind and snow with rain. At the same time, the stability of the energy system has suffered due to Russian attacks, so difficult weather conditions now have a greater impact on the provision of Ukrainians with electricity.

This was reported in “Ukrenergo”. They noted that they are:

  • Zhytomyr;
  • Vinnitsa;
  • Khmelnytsky;
  • Chernivtsi;
  • Kievskaya;
  • Chernihiv;
  • Cherkasy;
  • Nikolaevskaya;
  • Odessa;
  • Kirovograd;
  • Dnepropetrovsk;
  • Sumy region.

“Due to bad weather (stormy wind, snow with rain) and damage in the networks of distribution system operators, there are significant blackouts of consumers in 12 regions of Ukraine. Repair teams of regional energy companies are working to eliminate damage and restore power supply,” the message says.

It is also noted that the power supply reliability of consumers in most regions is significantly reduced. The reason is the damage to key high-voltage substations caused by the aggressor over the past six months.

“In the Zhytomyr region, due to the growth in consumption and significant damage to networks due to repeated attacks by Russians, the volume of consumption restrictions is increasing. Also, due to the growth in consumption, network restrictions are possible in the Kiev region and Kiev. In other regions, restrictions in the networks of Ukrenergo, which would lead to the need to limit consumption, no,” the company said.

At the same time, the KMVA (Kyiv City Military Administration) reported that blackouts are already being applied in a number of districts of the capital – according to schedules. It hit the parts:

  • Goloseevsky;
  • Svyatoshinsky;
  • Shevchenkovskiy;
  • Solomensky districts.

Ukrainian electricity wants to be sold to Europe

Meanwhile, Ukraine is being prepared to resume electricity exports to Europe. In particular, the Energy Committee of the Verkhovna Rada stated that the proceeds from its sale are essential for the country, and therefore the export ban should be lifted.

However, they noted there, it is possible to resume exports only if there is excess electricity in the energy system. “As long as there is a surplus (surplus) of electricity in the Ukrainian energy system, it is necessary to lift the ban on its export to the EU. The country’s revenues from the export of surplus electricity are essential to resume the energy system after enemy attacks,” the committee said.

As GLOBAL HAPPENINGS reported, meanwhile, electricity tariffs for Ukrainians may be raised as early as May. After all, according to Adviser to the Prime Minister Yuriy Boyko, the current tariff for the population is about four times lower than the real cost of energy – given this, more than 140 billion hryvnias a year are spent to support low tariffs.
