Belarus has finally chosen a new name for the former restaurants of the McDonald’s chain, which refused to work in the country. The option “Delicious – and that’s it” (as in Russia) was blocked by the self-proclaimed President Alexander Lukashenko, so the Belarusian creatives settled on the name. “We are open”.
Thus, the KSB Victory Restaurants company, which manages former McDonald’s establishments in Belarus, changed its logos on the website and in social networks to “We are open”. Design reminiscent of both the original McDonald’s and the Russian forgery – the text in green letters is placed in a yellow circle:
At the same time, the chain’s restaurants are listed under the name “KSB Victory Restaurants” in the Commercial Register. At the time of writing, the company’s website was out of order, but screenshots have been preserved on the network:
Previously, it was expected that McDonald’s in Belarus would be called the same as in the Russian Federation – “Delicious – and that’s it.” To do this, local managers even planned to purchase a Russian franchise. However plans confused Lukashenkawho, at one of the meetings, demanded that Belarusian restaurateurs replace McDonald’s.
As a result, “KSB Victor Restaurants” had to temporarily return the original signs to “Maku” (which was illegal), as well as add “Belarusian burgers” to the menu. The illegal McDonald’s signs were soon taken down and the temporary name “We’re Open” (i.e. “We’re Open” as a notice) put up.
Now this option, in theory, has become final. By the way, it appeared not only on the website and social networks of the Belarusian company, but also on the maps of aggregators ordering food delivery.
As GLOBAL HAPPENINGS reported, in Russia, the Tasty and Precise restaurant chain ended 2022 with a loss of 11 billion rubles ($140 million). While in 2021, McDonald’s showed a profit of 2 billion rubles (25.8 million dollars).
