VAKS put on the wanted list people’s deputy Sergei Shakhov, who tried to hide 13 apartments and 27 land plots

On March 31, the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court put on the wanted list the People’s Deputy of Ukraine Serhiy Shakhov, who is the co-chairman of the Our Land party. He is accused of trying to hide 13 apartments and 27 land plots.

By the time of the search, the court proceedings on Shakhov’s non-declaration of property were suspended. Details were published on the website of the Judicial-Legal Newspaper.

The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court put on the wanted list the people’s deputy Sergei Shakhov accused of not declaring property, having granted the corresponding petition of the accused party.

“The accused Shakhov was put on the wanted list. To stop the trial on Shakhov until he is searched … The decision is not subject to appeal,” Vera Mikhailenko, the presiding judge of the VAKS, announced the decision.

On March 31, the court held a regular hearing on the case of non-declaration of Shakhmatny’s property. He himself did not appear at this meeting again. According to Shakhov’s lawyer, he has been in hospital since February 20 in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. At the same time, the lawyer did not provide any documents confirming the crossing of the Chess border.

“Why is it so painful for you, six months constantly in hospitals?” – the presiding judge Moskalenko reacted to the statements of Shakhov’s lawyer.

In the meantime, the prosecutor filed a petition with the court to put Shakhov on the wanted list due to systematic failure to appear at court hearings without good reason. The prosecution notes that the defense did not provide the original documents on the treatment of the deputy, and upon request to the medical institution, the prosecution received an answer that there was no file on the patient Sergei Shakhov.

The court granted the prosecutor’s request in full.

Recall, on February 21, the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court decided to apply a coercive pretext to the person accused of not declaring People’s Deputy Shakhov. However, this determination was not fulfilled due to the absence of a deputy.

According to investigators, in the declaration for 2020, Shakhov did not provide information about a residential building, a land plot in the Kiev region and an office that was in his use, as well as property and income owned by his common-law wife.

In general, the deputy, according to investigators, hid property worth almost UAH 88 million, which is more than 4,000 times the subsistence minimum for able-bodied people.
