The national energy company Ukrenergo is already actively preparing for next winter. Now decisions are being made there that will help protect energy facilities from possible Russian attacks.
This was announced on Saturday, April 1, on the air of the telethon “United News” by the head of the board of NPC “Ukrenergo” Volodymyr Kudrytsky. He noted that in order to prepare the energy system for the winter in a war, it is necessary to provide physical protection of energy facilities, the restoration of generation, equipment and finance for all this.
“We are very grateful to the State Agency for the Rehabilitation and Development of Infrastructure of Ukraine, with which we are cooperating in order to protect the main infrastructure and critical energy facilities,” Kudrytsky said.
Ukrenergo wants to have time to strengthen the protection of facilities (engineering fortifications) by the beginning of the next heating season. In addition, there are plans to make Ukrainian substations more resistant to aggressor strikes.
It is also necessary to restore the generation of hydro and thermal power plants, prepare thermal power plants for next winter.
“It is also important to contract and bring to Ukraine a sufficient amount of equipment necessary for the repair of networks, power plants. It is also important to have money in order to repair damaged power facilities, substations, networks. These key components must be present in order for us to prepare and get through the next winter without such stress and such large-scale outages that were last season,” Kudritsky added.
