“Green” power plants in Ukraine artificially underpaid more than 60% of funds – Tinny

Renewable energy companies in Ukraine continue to experience a deep problem of underpayments for green electricity produced, as the settlement rate is only 36%, said Igor Tynny, co-founder of the Ukrainian Renewable Energy Association.

“Now money is coming in for April and the first ten days of May. The level of payment for solar energy is 36%. Such fluctuations do not allow us to predict anything … In general, I believe that the issue of debt is artificial,” Tinny said.

He stressed that the debt to his companies reaches more than 300 million hryvnias, where a significant part was accumulated in 2022.

The investor notes that since the beginning of the war, the industry has generally suspended payments, establishing that 13% of payment will be enough for solar energy.

“Then they did 15%. This is below any cost,” Tinny stressed.

He clarified that in winter, the average level of payments was about 85%, but due to the fact that solar energy worked little, and wind farms do not work, since most of them are located in the occupied territory.

Recall that the debt of Ukrenergo to the Guaranteed Buyer has reached UAH 16 billion, and at the same time, green energy enterprises have been recording critical underpayments for the produced green electricity since the beginning of the year.

According to Stanislav Ignatiev, CEO of Solar Generation, the crisis of non-payments to green energy enterprises undermines the confidence of foreign investors in Ukraine, which negatively affects further recovery and development opportunities.
