Metinvest refused tax benefits for UAH 350 million in favor of the state and Zaporozhye

“Zaporozhkoks”, “Zaporozhogneupor”, Zaporozhye Foundry and Mechanical Plant and the joint venture “Zaporozhstal” refused tax benefits provided for enterprises in martial law. The amount of deductions that the Zaporizhia metallurgists paid to Metinvest in addition to the state budget exceeds UAH 350 million, of which more than UAH 200 million went to local budgets.

This is reported on the company’s website.

According to the law, enterprises of the Zaporizhzhya region could take advantage of benefits and not pay part of the tax charges – in particular, non-land tax, real estate tax and environmental tax – for the period from March to December 2022. If the business has transferred these payments for the specified period to the budgets in full, the enterprise has the right to adjust the amount of accruals and consider them payments made to the treasury in advance.

“Metinvest’s principled position is to support Ukraine as much as possible and comprehensively in this difficult time for all of us. For example, programs to help the defenders of Zaporozhye or financial support for the Cossacks who suffered from shelling would be impossible without Metinvest’s multimillion-dollar deductions in Zaporozhye. With our decision, today we guarantee funding for vital We are working for Ukraine’s victory and bringing it closer in various ways, and the decision under martial law to refrain from using tax incentives in favor of the state and the city is one of them,” Metinvest Group COO Oleksandr Mironenko emphasized. .

Anatoly Kurtev, secretary of the Zaporizhia City Council, said how significant a contribution to supporting the city is this decision of responsible business: “If the environmental tax, taxes on land and real estate had not been paid, the city would have received less than 920 million hryvnias. And this is a very big burden on the budget This is actually two months of full life of the city”.

Recall that in 2022, despite the temporary forced conservation of capacities, the loss of logistics routes and a significant reduction in production volumes, Metinvest’s Zaporozhye enterprises paid all taxes in full. The total amount of deductions and fees paid for 2022 to the budgets of all levels amounted to UAH 3.4 billion. Of these, Zaporizhzhya enterprises of Metinvest – Zaporizhstal, Zaporozhogneupor, Zaporizhkoks and the Zaporozhye Casting and Mechanical Plant – sent almost UAH 820 million to local budgets.
