In Ukraine, the cost of a popular product has changed dramatically: how much does it cost now

In Ukraine, greenhouse plants sell tomatoes at a price of 60-80 UAH/kg, which is on average 12% cheaper than at the end of the last working week. Approximately at the same cost they sell tomatoes in Ukrainian supermarkets.

According to the EastFruit edition, the supply of imported tomatoes has increased, and Ukrainian greenhouse plants have also begun to sell more tomatoes. As a result, the increase in supply in the market led to a decrease in product prices.

“Today, Ukrainian greenhouse plants manage to ship tomatoes no more than UAH 60-80/kg ($1.64-2.19/kg), which is on average 12% cheaper than at the end of the last working week. At the same time, according to producers, despite the decrease in selling prices, the demand for local tomatoes remains quite low,” the company said in a statement.

However, when compared with June 2022, the price has increased by 17% (although it has fallen by 12% in the last week). Most key market players agree that tomato prices will drop rapidly in the near future. They justify their opinion by the fact that in the near future tomatoes from summer greenhouses will begin to enter the market en masse, which will lead to another price reduction in this segment.

It should be noted that the season for selling sweet cherries has already started in Ukraine. Market prices began to decline. Now the cost starts from 100 UAH. for domestic berries, but imported ones are more expensive – from 370 UAH.

GLOBAL HAPPENINGS reported earlier that in Ukraine, despite the annual inflation of more than 20%, some products fell in price. The most significant price drop since the beginning of 2023 was shown by buckwheat and beets.
