In 2023 prices for watermelons in Ukraine will be lower than in the past. The berry will be more accessible, because in the de-occupied territories of the Kherson and Nikolaev regions, mine clearing was a priority, first of all, areas under vegetable or melon crops.
So these crops are sown. Taras Vysotsky, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, spoke about this on the air of United News.
At the same time, the beginning of June is not the peak season for watermelon. You can talk about mass production in July and August.
“Definitely, production this year will be higher than last year. Obviously, the price will be lower. How much it will decrease is now difficult to predict, since we see instability in weather factors, this year there are large fluctuations, this will affect production. The second factor is you need to understand what will happen to fuel prices, because logistics in this berry has a significant impact,” Vysotsky said.
How many watermelons cost in Ukraine?
Currently, the average price is 40 UAH. This is evidenced by the market data “Capital”. The maximum cost of a watermelon is 50 UAH.
GLOBAL HAPPENINGS previously reported that in Ukraine prices for a dozen eggs decreased by UAH 10 from April to May and will continue to decline in the summer. The future decline is due to the fact that private households, occupying up to half of the market, will begin to sell their goods more actively.
