Kakhovskaya HPP destroyed: Energoatom told about the risks for ZNPP

After Russia undermined the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, the situation at the occupied Zaporozhye nuclear power plant did not become critical. The station is cooled by special ponds. The water in them really came from the Kakhovka reservoir, however, due to the shutdown of all power units, the water level in the ponds now does not need to be replenished.

Energoatom President Petr Kotin announced this on the air of the all-Ukrainian telethon. “We do not assess this situation as critical, since the station has its own cooling pond, separated from the Kakhovka reservoir,” Kotin said.

According to him, so far both the pond and the bowls of the pools of the security system keep the water level, which was before the explosion of the hydroelectric dam. “If the units were working now (and not a single one is working), then there would be active evaporation of these rates. And the water level would gradually go away. But even when the power units are operating, it takes about 1-1.5 months to water had to be increased. Since the blocks are not working, there has not been a single feeding of rates since September,” the head of Energoatom explained.

He added that the drop in the water level in the Kakhovka reservoir is provided for in the project of the power plant. There are already developed measures on what to do at ZNPP in such a case.

“There are alternative ways to feed them, even if there is no water in the Kakhovka reservoir. The last measure is top dressing from the wells that are at the ZNPP site … To date, there is no direct immediate threat. It is in order,” Kotin summed up.

As GLOBAL HAPPENINGS reported, on the night of June 6, Russian war criminals blew up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station a few kilometers from the temporarily occupied city of Novaya Kakhovka. As a result of the destruction of the dam and the water that was not subject to restoration of the station, in the Kakhovka reservoir began to rapidly subside and more than 80 settlements were under the threat of flooding.

The undermining of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station by infidels will affect the situation in the energy system of Ukraine and food security, experts say. In this case, emergency power outages will not apply.
