Prices for strawberries have changed dramatically in Ukraine: how much you need to pay for a kilo of berries

In Ukraine the wholesale price of strawberries continues to fall due to the ripening of berries in Ukrainian farms. The trend has already affected retail prices – the cost of a kilogram has fallen from UAH 140 to UAH 60-100. But this is not the limit.

In general, purchase prices for strawberries fell by 36% compared to last week. Customers are offered to buy strawberries at a price of UAH 30-65 per kilogram, according to the construction of the EastFruit analytical platform.

Mainly, prices for strawberries are falling in the southern and central regions of the country. Farmers are forced to cut strawberry prices as the supply of local farms has increased greatly.

But at the same time demand from Ukrainians remains quite restrained – not only because of high prices, but also because of high prices high percentage of substandard berries. Analysts believe that a large amount of rain in May and early June greatly reduced the quality of Ukrainian strawberries.

Average prices for strawberries down 37% compared to June 2022. Prices are expected to fall even lower as demand remains subdued and supply rises, but big problems with the condition of the goods are expected.

Note what about purchase prices – that is, about which farmers sell strawberries to merchants. In the retail market prices for berries significantly higher and vary by region. This is due to the fact that changes in purchase prices usually affect the state of affairs in retail after a few weeks. That is, the current “wholesale” price reduction Ukrainians will feel closer to mid-June.

For example, in the Kharkiv region on June 6-7 for strawberries you will have to pay 100-120 UAH per kilogram. In Kyiv, prices range from 70 to 90 UAH, in Kyiv – an average of 65 UAH. But the closer to the south, the cheaper: in Krivoy Rog for strawberries in retail ask from 55 to 65 UAH.

As GLOBAL HAPPENINGS previously reported, the cost of borscht has increased in Ukraine. Cooking a 3.5-4 liter pot during the war will be 7% more expensive and will cost 120.6 UAH. Oil will cost the most, which has risen in price by 35% – its average cost in the capital’s supermarkets is 55 UAH.
