Carige: red falls for 9 months, positive operating margin for 3 months

Daniele Franco:

(ANSA) – GENOA, NOVEMBER 10 – In the first nine months of 2021, Banca Carige recorded a net loss of 76.6 million euros, down compared to the red for 121.9 million in the period February-September 2020. The margin EBITDA was negative for 20.8 million, an improvement compared to the negative figure of 71.1 million between February and September 2020. In the third quarter alone, the gross operating margin returned to positive for 8.8 million. This was announced by the Ligurian institute in a note.

The 9-month result was affected by a non-recurring component of 22.6 million prudentially set aside at the end of the audit on the transparency of the Bank of Italy, in addition to the allocation of 10.4 million already made in the 2020 financial statements.

“The quarter that has just ended is confirmation that Carige continues in the march of recovery of the strong profitability of the monitoring of the quality of credit assets and the gradual completion of the activities envisaged in the plan – declares the managing director Francesco Guido -. Although the final balance is invalidated from a contingent liability not attributable to the core business and which can subsequently be reabsorbed, the Bank is in excellent health and consolidates the positive signs of growth of its business recorded in the previous quarters. Thanks to the irreplaceable contribution of our staff, we will continue on the road to further accelerate the development of the group’s banks, making the closeness to families and businesses living in our own territories even more felt “.
