Highways: To-Mi ‘talks’ to cars, Astm invests 600 million

Maneuver, Pierpaolo Bombardieri:

(ANSA) – MILAN, NOVEMBER 17 – Astm has launched a total connection plan between the motorway, cars or heavy vehicles that travel the Turin-Milan, with a first pilot project already active and tested over five kilometers, while the Milan-Novara section it will be equipped with many equipment by 2024 and the entire path completed by 2030. “The total investment will be around 600 million and is one of the first worldwide operational projects in this field”, announces Umberto Tosoni, managing director of the Astm group. .

Road operators and drivers will therefore have the opportunity to exchange information in real time to optimize travel, thus reducing accidents, congestion and polluting emissions – it was explained during a meeting organized in Torre PwC in Milan by Astm Group and Volkswagen Group Italia – with a system that collects and aggregates information relating to the current scenario and, taking into account the risk factors, activates the response plan through geo-localized messages. The Emeras software, developed by Sinelec, a technology company of the Astm group, guarantees integration with ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) on the road and makes it possible to interconnect two-way in real time between vehicles and infrastructures.

The technologies in this case evolve from intelligent systems to ‘cooperative’ systems, where the cooperation between vehicles and infrastructure provides better quality services for safety, comfort and congestion reduction, increasing the level of supervision of the environment surrounding the vehicle. and thus becoming a technological enabler for a future based also on autonomous driving.
