(ANSA) – ROME, 25 NOV – In 2020 the number of foreigners present in the INPS databases was 3,760,421, of which 3,192,588 workers (84.9%), 266,924 retired (7.1%) and 300,909 recipients of income support benefits (8.0%).
This can be read in the Institute’s Observatory on foreigners which shows that the overall decline in foreigners in databases (-2.19% on 2019) is driven by the reduction in workers (-4.21%) while both retirees are increasing (+ 5.34%) and the recipients of income support benefits (+ 16.52%). The data reflects the weight of the pandemic over the year.
Looking at the data by country of origin, in 2020, the strong presence of Romanians stands out, with 711,736 people making up 18.9% of all regular foreigners registered with INPS.
Followed by the Albanians (351,225, 9.3%), the Moroccans (285,534, 7.6%), the Chinese (208,549, 5.5%), the Ukrainians (174,237, 4.6%) and the Filipinos (123,866, 3 , 3%). Overall, these six nations account for about half of the total number of foreigners known to INPS (49.3%). (HANDLE).
