(ANSA) – MILAN, NOVEMBER 30 – Difficult session start for Piazza Affari, with investors who find themselves managing a new dose of uncertainty about the Covid pandemic after the CEO of Moderna, Stephane Bancel, has predicted that it will take several months before starting large-scale production of effective vaccines against the Omicron variant.
The Ftse MIb loses 1.3%, weighed down by Stellantis (-3.4%), Banca Generali and Prysmian (-2%), Mediolanum (-1.9%), Leonardo (-2.8%) and Exor (-1.8%). Heavy Eni (-1.9%) and Tenaris (-1.6%), who are discounting the new slide in oil: energy stocks are the most penalized sector in Europe, ahead of banks, cars, retailers and travel-related stocks and tourism.
Among the banks, Banco Bpm (-1.3%) and Intesa (-1.2%) suffered, sales also on Unipol and Generali insurance companies (-1.1% both). Saipem limits damages (-0.9%) thanks to a new contract worth 660 million euros, Tim turns down (-0.7%) after a positive start while Diasorin continues to benefit from the resurgence of the pandemic (+3, 4%). Outside the Ftse Mib, a new decline for Juventus (-1.3%), which is affected by the investigation by the Turin Public Prosecutor’s Office on the capital gains and the effects of the capital increase.
