Will affect everyone: what awaits pensioners from December 1

Many innovations await Ukrainians from December 1, and some of them apply to pensioners as well. They will face not only the indexation of pensions, but also the rise in prices for the most necessary things.

“Today” collected the main innovations for elderly Ukrainians.

Increasing the living wage

Starting from December 1, the living wage will be raised for Ukrainians. It will grow from UAH 2294 to UAH 2393.

As stated in the law “On the State Budget of Ukraine for 2021, the cost of living will be set:

• for children under 6 years old increased from UAH 2013 to UAH 2100;
• for children from 6 to 18 years old – at the level of UAH 2618, although before that it was UAH 2510;
• for able-bodied persons – from UAH 2379 to UAH 2481;
• maternity assistance for the unemployed – from UAH 2635 to UAH 2749.

But for pensioners it will be at the level of 1934 UAH, although in November it was 1854 UAH.

Indexation of pensions

The increase in the pension minimum will lead to the indexation of pensions. The minimum payment will be set at UAH 1934, and the maximum – UAH 19 340.

For those who retired at an old age and have reached the required retirement experience, their payments will be at least UAH 2,600. But it is important to reach 30 years of experience for women, and 35 years for men.

And the Pension Fund has already named a list of banks in which pensioners can receive social benefits.

At the same time, there may be problems with pensions. The Pension Fund asked the government to increase the budget by UAH 4.34 billion. The fund explained that the shortage of funds arose due to the recalculation of pensions assigned under special laws by court decisions.

But the Minister of Social Policy Marina Lazebnaya has already assured that there will be no delays in payments and all Ukrainians will receive their money on time.

Food prices

Food will also rise in price for pensioners. This was influenced not only by inflation, but also by energy prices.

The director of the auditing company Mikhail Krapivko believes that by the end of the year, food will rise in price by 5-15%. Ukrainians will create a kind of artificial shortage before the holidays, as they will begin to buy food in large quantities.

The expert believes that the price will rise only for products popular for the holidays. Namely: meat, mayonnaise, eggs, vegetables, fruits.

“Although beets, carrots, onions, cabbage will not rise so much by the end of the year – by 10%. But onions may rise in price at a record. Compared to last year, by 2.5 times. In addition, meat will rise in price. 20%, and chicken by 10% “, – explained the head of the Union of Ukrainian Peasantry Ivan Tomich.

Oleg Pendzin, an expert at the Economic Discussion Club, believes that bread will rise in price for Ukrainians by 2% by the New Year, and prices for lard and meat will also rise. He also predicts a rise in prices for sunflower oil, sugar and chicken.
