Energy: Ast, unthinkable total dependence on renewables

(ANSA) – ROME, JANUARY 18 – “Renewables have a broad spectrum, the one that goes best between solar and wind power, and wind power, a little more continuous”, but “being completely dependent on renewables is unthinkable”. “Thinking that Italy can feed energy-hungry people only with renewables is not a viable option”. This was stated by Massimiliano Burelli, CEO of AST Terni, speaking at the Ugl conference.

“We consume 1.2 tera and 150 million cubic meters of natural gas, we are an all-round energy-intensive entity. The situation – explains Burelli – is particularly complex for us, we have seen an increase in prices that is difficult to manage, considering that we we operate globally, with competitors who are able to benefit from a different energy mix “” We are suffering – he concludes – and we try to pass on part of the extra energy costs to our customers, where we can, we must rely on government support and of the international community “.
