(ANSA) – TRIESTE, 31 JAN – Fincantieri has delivered to Monfalcone (Gorizia) “Discovery Princess”, the sixth unit of the successful “Royal” class for Princess Cruises, a brand of the Carnival Corporation group, and to Muggiano (La Spezia) the “Musherib” patrol boat “, first unit of the homonymous class for the Ministry of Defense of Qatar. With these deliveries, as envisaged by the contracts, the company collected a total of approximately 550 million euros.
“Discovery Princess” is the first cruise ship that Fincantieri will deliver in 2022; 6 more will follow by December. The Group has 14 cruise ships under construction, at various levels of advancement, out of a total of 28 passenger ships in its portfolio which extend the time horizon of this segment until 2027.
A total of 9.2 million hours of work were needed to create “Discovery Princess” and “Musherib”, involving almost 8,000 people and about 650 companies in the Fincantieri supply chain.
Fincantieri underlines that these are “projects with a high technological content in different shipbuilding sectors”, “confirming the ability to respect commitments on time and on budget” despite “the persistence of the pandemic emergency”.
