Cereals are getting more expensive in Ukraine: how much are buckwheat, rice and millet now

Compared to 2017, cereals have almost doubled in price

In Ukraine, in the first month of 2022, prices for cereals increased sharply. For example, for one kilogram of buckwheat they are now asking a little more 50 hryvnia.

This was reported on the website of the Ministry of Finance.

Compared to December 2021, rice, millet and buckwheat have risen in price by 3-4 hryvnias.

How many now cereals cost:

  • millet – 21.67 UAH / kg;
  • long rice – 41.90 UAH / kg;
  • round rice – 35.20 UAH/kg;
  • buckwheat – 50.85 UAH / kg.

Decreased in price only parboiled rice: UAH 35.68 to UAH 35.23

State regulation of prices

On January 12, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine decided to introduce a maximum level of trade markup for certain types of products.

According to him, price regulation concerns following products:

  • granulated sugar;
  • wheat flour of the highest grade;
  • pasta of domestic production (vermicelli from wheat flour of the highest grade);
  • pasteurized milk with a fat content of 2.5 percent (in a film);
  • sunflower oil;
  • chicken eggs category C1;
  • bird (chicken carcass);
  • butter with a fat content of 72.5 percent.
