Those who choose the free energy market are increasing

(ANSA) – ROME, 03 FEB – More and more families and businesses are switching to the free energy market, especially by calling the company spontaneously or online and less and less after receiving a call from a call center. The number of supplier changes is high, especially for light with young people who prefer the free market. In detail, 59.7% of households (+ 2.4% in six months) and 70.4% of businesses (+ 2.4%) were served in the electricity sector, 62% of domestic customers in the gas sector (+ 1.8%) and 71.3% of condominiums (+ 1.4%) for domestic use with consumption below 200,000 cubic meters (standard cubic meter).

The president of Arera, Stefano Besseghini observes that “when the phase of very high prices in gas and electricity has passed, the numbers will show us if and how our consumption behaviors and our market choices will change”, underlining that the Arera’s periodic reports provide “evaluation elements for possible structural policies”.

Returning to the data in the vast majority of Italian regions and provinces, more than half of the customers – domestic and non-domestic – left the protection regime, choosing a free market contract for both the electricity and gas sectors. In particular, in the electricity sector, 83% (+ 2.1%) of the contracts signed by customers between the ages of 18 and 29 are in the free market, a choice that remains the majority until the age of 70-79, even if with the as the age groups grow, the percentage of customers served under greater protection increases.

Especially domestic customers and already in the free market have changed supplier at a high rate and by 2021 it could reach 17.4% for electricity and 12.4% for gas and the share of customers who , having come out of the greater protection, he chooses a free market contract with the same seller.
