Ukrainians were told what to do in order to receive only the correct figures for gas volumes in gas bills.

So, data from the meters must be transferred to regional gas companies with 1 to 5 date of each month, according to NJSC Naftogaz.

It is noted that the volumes of gas consumption take into account exactly operators of gas distribution networks (oblgas).

“These are the companies that come to you periodically to take meter data, check the condition of gas equipment. Regional gas companies collect meter readings through communication channels”the message says.

How the received data is processed

Gas suppliers take data on the amount of fuel consumed from the information platform of the GDS operator. Then the amount of gas consumed multiplied by the price fixed within the current tariff plan.

If the client, for any reason, did not report the meter readings or transmitted them late, the GDS operator considers the final price according to the maximum volumes of consumption. If the client does not agree with the final payment for gas, he needs to contact the oblgas, where they can do recalculation in volumes. The information will be displayed on the invoice next month.

And how is the price for gas formed in general?

The tariff is based on the volume of gas used for the previous period (for 2022, this is the period from October 1, 2020 to September 30, 2021). Then this volume is divided by 12 and multiplied by the tariff of the local Gas Distribution Network Operator (GTRS).

But it turns out that there is a clause in the SRS Code that says about minimum consumptionnamely:

  • 39 cubic meters – for a residential consumer facility where natural gas is used only for cooking;
  • 126 cubic meters – for a residential consumer facility where natural gas is used for heating water and cooking;
  • 314 cubic meters – for a residential consumer facility, where natural gas is used in an integrated manner, including for heating, or a non-domestic consumer facility.

So even if you use less gas, you don’t care calculate the minimum amount.

Earlier, we talked about why Ukrainians will pay more for utilities in 2022 than a year earlier, and wrote where Ukrainians will live in 30 years, and what will change in their homes.
