Surprise, fear, hatred have become our constant allies. Some are not ready to panic and scoff at Putin and his crazy speeches, others are stockpiling food, others are packing their bags. Everyone has their own reaction to what is happening.

Interestingly, the Kiev International Institute of Sociology published data from a survey conducted by analysts in February this year. According to the information collected, 57.5% of Ukrainians are ready to defend their cities in the event of a Russian invasion. 37.3% answered that they would take up arms, and 25% would fight by participating in civil resistance actions.

12.4% want to go to safer regions, and 7.5% want to go abroad. Note that 7.6% of Ukrainians have not yet decided on their actions.

We decided to figure out what can be done right now in order to restore at least a little emotional balance, strengthen the army and not sow panic.

Help the army and internally displaced people

Don’t forget, there are still not enough funds to finance the Ukrainian military and people who have suffered as a result of hostilities in Ukraine. Already now, instead of panic, we can financially support the funds that help the army. Among them: “Turn back alive”, “Leather may” and “Army SOS”.

Take a first aid course

Believe me, this knowledge will be useful to you even on a regular trip. You can take the course at the “Red Cross”, they are divided into 6-, 12- and 48-hour programs. After passing you will be issued a certificate that will be valid in 192 countries around the world.

In the courses, you will be told not only the theory that we are used to at school life safety, but 60% will be devoted to the practical part.

Join the defense

Terodefense are separate units within the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Their main task is to protect their city, settlement or its district from the enemy. Anyone between the ages of 18 and 57 can join, regardless of gender or service experience.

To enroll in the defense, you need to contact the recruitment and social support centers (former military registration and enlistment offices), which are located in your areas.

You can find information in the official groups of the Armed Forces of Ukraine here.

Do not succumb to provocations and read only trusted media

Pay attention to all the content you see – social media posts from acquaintances and colleagues, dubious Telegram groups, and articles from online publications that twist the facts. All these resources can carry unverified information and manipulate your mind. The result is even more stress.

Try to check the information and not succumb to provocations.

Follow Trusted Sources in Case of an Emergency

In case of an invasion, a Telegram bot “Ready for everything” was launched in Ukraine. There you can find tips, instructions and other recommendations: where to find water, where to run in case of a bombardment, and so on.

Also keep an eye out for trusted media with a good reputation and government websites.

Keep calm

Psychologists advises to cope with stress in this troubling time, try to accept the situation and answer the question: “How can I change this?” The most important thing is not to panic, support your parents and loved ones, try to meet with them more often. Just in case, pack a suitcase and a first aid kit in case of an emergency.

You can also contact a psychologist. Free consultations have already been launched for military families in Ukraine. We wrote more here.
