Taking a firm stand is a responsible and difficult step, for which not everyone has the courage and conscience. While many global brands have left Russia, ceasing to sponsor the killings of Ukrainians by the aggressor army, some companies do not dare to close their offices and remain in the Russian Federation. These include the ECCO brand.
On the official website, the Danish manufacturer published a letter in which, on the one hand, it expresses sympathy and support for Ukraine, promising to help refugees, but on the other hand, it “holds out cartridges” to the Russian occupier.
We deeply regret the events in Ukraine and condemn any violence.
ECCO sells in Ukraine through a distributor who has 132 employees in ECCO stores. We are closely following developments. If necessary, we are ready to assist our distributor. In Russia, where ECCO acquired a distributor in 2020, more than 1,500 people work. They and their families are also going through hard times. ECCO is following developments closely and is in constant contact with local leadership.
For ECCO, taking care of our employees is always our top priority.
However, ECCO will of course always follow the political directives set by the Danish government. ECCO has decided that we will help refugees from Ukraine whenever they arrive in areas where ECCO operates.
