“It was very loud”: Svyatoslav Vakarchuk is in shelled Odessa

On the morning of April 3, the invaders attacked Odessa from the air. This was witnessed by Svyatoslav Vakarchuk, who travels around Ukraine and actively helps volunteers, military and civilian. On the eve of the musician showed the destroyed hotel, where he once stayed with the Okean Elzy group.

Vakarchuk said that he woke up today from powerful explosions. Recall that Ukrainians are asked not to publish photos and videos from the places of shelling – do not be spotters for enemies!

I am now in Odessa, in the center of the city. Behind me you see sandbags, barricades. Odessa is ready for defense. And behind it is a big black smoke – these are the consequences of one of the three explosions that were heard this morning. Actually, I woke up from them. 5:30 – 6 am, it was very loud, powerful explosions, – said Svyatoslav Vakarchuk in the video, which at the time of writing this material has already been deleted.

The other day, during his visit to Lviv, Svyatoslav Vakarchuk met with his adopted daughter Diana. The musician published a joint photo with a girl on his Instagram profile, and also said that from the first days of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Diana has been volunteering and helping internally displaced people.

Diana Fonareva is the daughter of Vakarchuk’s first wife, Lyalya Fonareva, from her ex-husband, Lvov businessman Vladimir Tarasyuk. By the way, Svyatoslav and Lyalya were married for 20 years, and in the summer of 2021 they announced a divorce.
