Temporary protection status

Validity of temporary protection status – 6 months with an option to extend. Alla Prokopenko notes that he is called a peculiar “internal passport” of the European Union, giving the right to Ukrainians:

  • Live and work in France.
  • Obtain health insurance (CSS).
  • Obtain an ADA financial aid card (issued by OFII).

To obtain temporary protection status, you need to contact the prefecturetaking with you the necessary documents for registration.

List of documents:

  • International passport.
  • 4 photos (there are photo booths in prefectures).
  • Documents of the child (if you temporarily moved with the child).
  • Proof of residence in France (attestation d’hébergement signee).

This application is signed by the receiving party. If you do not have a “receiving party”, then the state should offer you accommodation options. At least in real stories of real people, I heard about very decent conditions: apartments with a kitchen, for example, or even hotel rooms, – says Alla Prokopenko.

Financial payment to temporarily displaced

Ukrainians who arrived in Paris and received the status of temporary protection are paid daily for one adult 6.80 eurobut on the child 3.40 euros.

Additionally, there is a family allowance. 7.40 euros per family. Monthly Alla Prokopenko and her son receive 528 euros.

Cons of living in Paris

If you come to Paris and don’t speak French, get ready for the challenge. Not all French people speak English. Most know only their native language.

With all their sincerity and readiness to help, they sometimes cannot do it in full: the language barrier interferes, – notes Alla Prokopenko.

Finding a job is another task with an asterisk. Finding a well-paid job without knowing French is almost impossible. Alla Prokopenko knows perfect French – the Ukrainian had no difficulties.

By the way, upon arrival in France, forget about budget internet at home.

Internet available hourly (average price – 3 euros per hour). The homeowner must purchase the equipment and guarantee a monthly subscription fee throughout the year. The fee is an average of 25 euros per month. Therefore, be sure to ask if your home will be equipped with the Internet. This is an additional item of expenses and hassle, – says Alla Prokopenko.

Travel for Ukrainians

One journey (ticket t +) in the subway costs 1.90 euros. If you want to save money, buy ten tickets at once (carnet de 10). The bus fare is more expensive than the subway. popular Buying a Pass Navigo among the French and tourists.
