Military-age students who study at higher education institutions outside of Ukraine may travel abroad during martial law to continue their studies. The Ministry for the Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, together with the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, told about rules for crossing the border for students of military age.

When crossing the border, you must show:

  • document giving the right to cross state borders.
  • document confirming training in an institution of professional higher and higher education abroad.
  • permission to cross the border from the head of the relevant center recruitment and social support.
  • military record with a record of granting a deferment from the draft.

To cross the border for a student you need to contact the regional center acquisition and social support at the place of residence (registration) and get:

  • appropriate entry in the military record granting a deferral of conscription.
  • permission to cross the border from the head of the relevant center recruitment and social support.

The recommendations noted that conscription for military service during mobilization, for a special period are not subject toin particular, representatives of professional higher and higher education, trainee assistants, graduate students and doctoral students studying in a full-time or dual form of education.
