Busty model Ashley Graham nearly died during home birth: ‘I’ve already seen the darkness’

In the winter, Ashley Graham experienced motherly happiness for the second time. The model and her husband Justin Ervin became the parents of twin sons Roman and Malachi. However, as the star admitted, the birth of babies almost cost her her life.

As the 34-year-old model admitted to Glamour, she will never forget that night of childbirth. Ashley says that everything went quickly. She gave birth at home with the help of midwives. Her boys, Roman and Malachi, were born two hours and seven minutes apart.

However, moments of happiness quickly turned into fear. After all, after giving birth, Ashley abruptly lost consciousness. Subsequently, the model found out that she was bleeding heavily.

All I remember is the feeling of a light touch on my cheek. Later I learned that at that moment they hit me on the cheeks, trying to bring me to my senses, and my husband Justin prayed in my ear. I saw darkness and something like stars, – shared Ashley Graham.

When she woke up, they tried to calm her down, saying that everything was in order. However, Ashley knew something was wrong.

They did not want to tell me then that I had lost liters of blood. But even though they didn’t want to go into details, I looked around the room, saw blood literally everywhere, and let out this deep inner cry – an emotional release from the chaos that I had just experienced, Ashley recalled.

As the star later learned, one of the midwives had to turn her over and press her finger over the pelvic bones to stop the bleeding. She was also injected with oxytocin.

Graham could neither sit nor crawl. So the midwives took a double sheet, laid the woman in labor on it, and dragged her down the hallway to the guest room, where there was a pull-out bed on which Ashley spent the next four days.

I couldn’t walk for a week. She didn’t leave the house for about two months. My midwives visited me every day. I think it seemed to them that these difficult events would torment me, but I told them all the time: “You all saved me. God saved me. This is a real miracle,” the model admitted.

Ashley Graham has a miscarriage

Ashley shared another moment in her life. Before getting pregnant with twins, she was expecting another child. However, Ashley suffered a miscarriage in February 2021.

I haven’t shared this until now, but I got pregnant in January 2021, my husband’s birthday. Since this was my second pregnancy, she started showing up early and we were so excited. But at the end of February I had a miscarriage. It was devastating. To date, this is one of the biggest losses in my life, – shared the model.

Briefly about the personal life of the model

Ashley Graham married cinematographer Justin Ervin in 2010, a year after they met. Ten years later, the couple had their first child, son Isaac.

Ashley is not shy about her body and constantly posts photos in underwear on social networks, showing stretch marks and folds on her skin. She is a fan of the Health at Every Size movement.

Graham was the first plus-size model to appear on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in 2016.
