Why do cats destroy our furniture? Scientists answered / Photo: unsplash.com, Collage: Today
We love to look at funny photos of cat haircuts and be surprised by the findings of scientists who are still trying to understand the essence of the soul of these cute pets. Animal psychologists around the world have been saying for the past few years that domestic cats are psychopaths by human standards. Sometimes we can’t help but agree.
Brazilian scientists conducted a new study to understand how furniture scratching depends on the mood of the animal. Experts interviewed 500 people who have pets, and the results were published in the Journal of Veterinary Behavior.
The fact that cats scratch furniture in the house or damage other items is more likely due to the closeness of animals with their owners. The reason is not the pet’s aggression or its character, the scientists said.
Researchers have not yet figured out exactly how to explain this relationship and the subtle emotional state of seals. But, they suggested that the more the owners love their animals, the more they will spoil the furniture. After all, everyone knows the fact that beloved cats are usually over-indulged.
Interestingly, scientists have not found a connection between a person’s attitude towards a cat and the manifestation of aggression, the habit of going to the toilet past the tray, or meowing excessively.
