Many do not agree with the scandalous decision of the EBU to transfer Eurovision 2023 from Ukraine to the UK. Even the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson, suggested that the organizing committee reconsider the issue.

Oleg Psyuk, frontman of the Kalush Orchestra, also expressed his opinion about the postponement of the song contest. The leader of the team that brought Ukraine the long-awaited victory at Eurovision 2022 believes that the European broadcaster should give Ukrainians time.

Our team is disappointed with the EBU’s decision and really hopes that this can still be changed somehow. Because we really want to hold Eurovision in Ukraine, and our Armed Forces of Ukraine will do everything possible to ensure that it is safe for everyone. Therefore, we ask the EBU and everyone who makes the decision to give us a little time, and we will prove that everything will be as it should be,” Psyuk said in a statement.

Eurovision 2023 scandal

The Ukrainian group Kalush Orchestra won the Eurovision Song Contest 2022. According to the rules of the competition, the next musical competition is held in the country that won the previous one, that is, in Ukraine.

Despite the fact that Ukraine has already begun to discuss the preparation of the contest, the European Broadcasting Union said that due to the war, Eurovision could not take place in Ukraine. The organizers of the competition turned to Britain to discuss the possibility of hosting the competition there, because their representative took second place.
