Fast and Furious will continue after the 11th according to one of the creators of the franchise

Fast and Furious 9 (or F9) is the latest installment in a billion dollar franchise. A franchise carried by Vin Diesel and able to stand up to the most popular blockbusters like those from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Here, no superheroes but a team of driving experts. Family, as Vin Diesel’s character calls it. And since every good story has an end, Fast and Furious ends with the 11th film (and the 10th since the finale has two parts). After nearly 20 years at the helm of the license, Vin Diesel seems ready to say goodbye to a whole era. But for Gary Scott Thompson (via WGTC), one of the creators of the universe, other productions will come after.

The screenwriter believes Fast and Furious will continue to exist in the form of other productions.

A connected universe similar to that of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

A Fast and Furious connected universe

Fast and Furious has a long history. Once a blockbuster about a small gang of thieves, the franchise has turned to operating it with unexpected success. Now Vin Diesel leads a bunch of experts with impressive action scenes, always pushing the limits. The franchise has also recruited big names: The Rock, Ludacris, John Cena…

And if Fast and Furious 11 is the ultimate film of this team, one of the creators of the universe is betting on future productions. “I don’t think they see an end. There is too much money. Universal executives are thinking, ‘Thank you for making our Marvel universe,’ ”said Gary Scott Thompson.

The screenwriter believes that Fast and Furious is “in competition with Marvel”. A little cynical, the man adds that “the only films coming out of the studios are Marvel, Disney, Fast and Furious or DC Comics. These movies cost a lot of money, so they want to make a lot of it. They will write about it until their death ”.

Can’t prove Gary Scott Thompson wrong. The blockbusters of recent years have come from these very lucrative franchises. Remember that Dwayne Johnson signed for the sequel to Hobbs & Shaw, a spin-off of Fast and Furious.

Not to mention the animated series Fast and Furious: Spies in the Race and possible films on Cipher (Charlize Theron) and Letty (Michelle Rodriguez).
