In the new film, Oleg Maslyuk plays one of the main roles – the rural policeman Bogdan, who, together with his partner Max (Yevgeny Yanovich), challenges the amber mafia.

What Oleg was like in his school years, what was most memorable and what funny things happened – the actor told everyone about this in an interview. He also showed his youthful photos.

Oleg, tell us about your school years. What were they and what were you?

I was the person who went to the medal. Something like this. It was not really my decision, but it worked out so well for me according to estimates, that it is necessary for me to be a medalist. Therefore, in high school I had to study a little, not without it.

I associate school with some cool moments. Even now I have friends from school: we still meet, go to each other’s birthday parties. One of my classmates recently had a wedding. Therefore, somehow I remember school with warmth, gratitude and pleasant emotions.

What was I? Sort of like a nerd, but no. And it seems he is not a rowdy. Calm guy, walking around with a briefcase and textbooks. Sometimes they could run a little, fool around, but so that they directly called the parents to school, this was not the case.

Have you been friendly with your classmates?

Based on the previous answer, yes. You know, in our classroom, just my company, with which I am still friends, was a kind of core. We have maintained all these friendly ties in the team. And he was quite well-coordinated with us.

The only thing is that, of course, after the ninth year of study, many began to move to lyceums or higher vocational schools. Therefore, there was a loss of many contacts. And so, with almost everyone who reached the eleventh grade, we can even now correspond and meet with many.

Have you taken part in any Olympiads?

Yes, I did. I was sent to do everything, but there was not as much sense as I wanted (smiles – ed.). Out of all, I, in my opinion, in the eighth or ninth grade took second place in Kiev at the history Olympiad. And, it seems, in the tenth – he won biology, but this is in the district, that is, it is insignificant.

I remember that a teacher of the Ukrainian language placed a lot on me. Especially regarding participation in the competition named after Petr Jatsik. In our time, just everyone was sent there, it seemed to me. And my teacher kept saying: “Well, when will you take Yatsik?” And I participated with such hopes, but somehow it didn’t work out with Yatsik.

What was your favorite subject in school?

By the way, I was interested in many subjects. But here it is better to say which one I knew best and therefore I liked him the most. And thinking from that position, it was history. Although I studied in physics and mathematics, that is, I also taught a lot of mathematics. We had such a directly specific mathematical bias. Such were my historical and mathematical fables, one might say (smiles – ed.).

But I was never asked about history. You know, you prepare, you sit with this raised hand – and in vain. I just realized somewhere in my senior years that this is not a method of earning grades at all. If they want to – they will ask why … But one day I did “hit”. I didn’t read something, and then they call me. I think: “Where have you been for two years?” So I get up and start inventing things. Of course, some related knowledge helped, somehow I taxied to ten (laughs – ed.).

And what subject did you frankly dislike?

Foreign languages were very difficult for me. I had a special war with the German. But he ended up in eighth grade. And English was somehow so hard, strained. When I feel that I am not at ease, I start to get nervous and I can’t. And just with foreign languages it was not easy. And with the rest of the subjects, in principle, it was quite normal.

What’s your most vivid memory from school?

I’ve got plenty of them. But somehow, especially in the memory, our cool location trips were deposited. When we did not go out as a whole class, but in a small group somewhere for a few days. We had such a train on which we rode, and we left things right in it. We went out, walked, spent the night somewhere, and then returned the next day, and on the train it was all waiting for us. It was very comfortable that you didn’t have to take anything with you. These are some kind of pleasant memories. Then new emotions of friendship opened up, somehow everything was different. Of course, when you are already in graduate school, you can allow yourself a little more. There were many bright moments that are now inconvenient to remember.

Share your recollection of the most curious situation that happened during school?

Once we had some kind of winter holiday. Probably in ninth grade. I studied in the “B” class, and there were three more classes on the parallel – “A”, “C” and “D”. This means that during some kind of crush at the gifts, someone pushed someone. And the one who fell turned out to be a guy from the “A” class. Here it will not be superfluous to remember that our “B” class was a lyceum, and they did not really like us, they considered us arrogant. And in the end, a coalition of three parallel classes decided to blow us a little. I don’t know how funny this is, but there is definitely something to remember. We all returned home in parts. Here’s a story.

This is a memory! Did you skip school?

We once had such a temptation – the first two lessons were Labor. I somehow technically overslept them, or came straight to the second one. All the same, at Labor, everyone was engaged in cleaning the territory. Somehow it didn’t really appeal to me. And other lessons – no, I did not skip. University is a slightly different matter, but somehow I went to school. Perhaps, sometimes already through force, but he walked.

What advice do you have for modern schoolchildren?

Schoolchildren, I advise you to appreciate the years in which you are now living. Because later, when you go to university, you will say how cool it was at school. When you get a job, you will say how cool it was at the university. And here is everything! You will already be adults. Therefore, these years should be appreciated.

And I will say this: you cannot “forget” about school in terms of your studies, but you need to understand that the grades you are given are important until you go to university or go to work. Evaluation is a subjective thing, but you need to acquire a baggage of knowledge. You will definitely need it in the future. At least in order to somehow show off in front of friends, or at least in front of someone (laughs – ed.). And I advise you to get high. That’s right, get high!
