Bob Dylan’s Weird Apology: A Machine Autographed His New Book

If it weren’t so sad, one would happily shake one’s head: Bob Dylan has spoken. The great silent man, who didn’t even come to Stockholm in 2016 to personally pick up the Nobel Prize in Literature, speaks out on his own behalf. He always avoided that.

Now it’s not about his political views, the meaning of a song, his private life or what the public thinks of a celebrity. Bob Dylan’s discretion was legendary. Not any longer longer.

He had dizzy spells

900 special “autographed” copies of his book on 20th century music culture, The Philosophy of Modern Song sold for $599 each. Dylan and his publisher Simon & Schuster worked with false information. The signatures come from a signing machine, an “autopen”. The German edition was published by CH Beck (“Philosophy of the Modern Song”). Dylan writes in 66 chapters about the plays that are groundbreaking for him.

Simon & Schuster offers to refund disappointed fans, with an apology from the renowned publisher. The fact that 81-year-old Bob Dylan himself explained the embarrassing case is like a sensation. He’s sorry he had health problems and wasn’t able to autograph the books himself. Dizzy spells would have plagued him, and the pandemic hadn’t helped either.

Apparently his pictures, which are sold through a gallery, are also affected. A strange case of swindle: It probably can’t be about cash. Not long ago, Dylan sold his song rights for $300 million.
